NextStep Recycling in
Eugene has placed a large box
outside of Real Food Co-op to
collect donations of unwanted
electronics.
NextStep Recycling refur-
bishes and recycles unwanted
electronics, from computers to
toasters and alarm clocks. Its
mission is to provide technolo-
gy and training to children and
adults who have barriers to
employment and education,
while protecting the environ-
ment and community from
hazardous waste.

daily. People can shop for
appliances that range from
refurbished electronics, power
cords, to battery packs and

for Humanity homes

Habitat
for
Humanity is looking for peo-
ple with moderate incomes
who would like to become
Habitat homeowners. If you
have lived or worked within
the Siuslaw Fire District for at
least one year and are a legal
U.S. resident you may be eligi-
ble.
Your application will be
considered based on need,
ability to make mortgage pay-
ments, and willingness to
work with Habitat for
Humanity volunteers in build-
ing your home.
Information and home own-
ership applications will be
available at three meetings to
be held in the Florence
Habitat for Humanity office at
2004 Highway 101, two doors
north of City Lights Theater.
Time of the meetings are on
Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m.;
Friday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m.; and
Saturday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m.

The Chicago native came to
New York via Oklahoma,
which he considers to be his
home state.
His family moved there in
1948, when he was 10 years
old, and he graduated from
Bristow High School and the
University of Oklahoma,
where he majored in drama
while his interest in folk music
grew and eventually predomi-
nated.

a.m., and the winners will be
announced at 1 p.m. There will
be a winner in each category,
as well as an overall Best-in-
Show winner. And then, of
course, there is the eating. Pie
for $3 per slice will go on sale
at 1:30 p.m.; first come, first
served, so get in line early.

for the first pie, $2 for each
additional pie, and there is a
limit of three entries per per-

Bomb

number of criminal pursuits,
during one of which police
allege the suspect threw pipe
bombs out the vehicle’s win-
dow during a chase. None of
the bombs detonated, but they
were fully functional, police
said.

said that a motive for placing
the bombs has never been
clear.

of the district that if the fund-

essary, such as grants, and take
seriously the plan to revive the
pool,” Hesse said.

The Portland Police Bureau,
after receiving a tip, arrested
Neal Allen Panschow, 44, on
Dec. 21 in Multnomah County.
The bureau said that Panschow
has outstanding warrants in
Multnomah and Tillamook
counties.

eluding vehicle, a 2002 silver
Honda Civic, connect the
Florence and Portland inci-
dents.
