SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14, 2015 Western Lane Ambulance District Ambulance Runs Dec. 29–Jan. 5 OBITUARIES BEAL—Jerry Raymond Beal, 78, formerly of Swisshome, passed away Oct. 10, 2014. Jerry Beal Jerry was born April 21, 1936, in Toledo, Ore., to Raymond and Nadine Beal and moved many times while growing up. He married Gwen Robinson in 1957, and they had three children: Peggy Sue Hardman (David), Patricia Ann Newhard and Raymond Beal (Debbie). Jerry was a life member of the Florence Elks Lodge and will be remembered for years to come not only as a member but also as a bartender. He was also an avid member of the NRA. For many years he worked at Davidson Industries and loved his job very much. He enjoyed woodworking and, because of his skills, donated many projects to children. He was happiest living in Swisshome for four years and attending Mapleton High School. He loved his school very much and never missed a school reunion; they will never be the same without him. He will be greatly missed. Jerry was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Paul, in 2004, and a grandson, Joel, in 2014. He is survived by two sis- ters: Billie Sites (Mike) of Alameda, Calif., and Winnie Zweigart (Ray) of Salem, Ore.; a brother, Jim Beal (Bekki), of Ivins, Utah; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and close friends. There will be a memorial service celebration of his life Saturday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m., at the Florence Elks Lodge, 1686 12th St. in Florence. Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. WAITE—Milton Fairchild Waite, 80, of Florence, passed away Dec. 9, 2014. He was born in Delta, Colo., on April 6, 1934, to Milton Waite Sr. and Vera Ensley. While attending Utah State University on a football schol- arship, Milton met his wife Caroleen. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, Chrysler Corporation and the U.S. govern- ment’s jus- tice depart- ment. Milton is Milton Waite survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Caroleen; daughter Vickie; son Milton IV and his wife, Stacey; two grandsons, Joshua and Brandon; a great-grandson, Nikolai; and brother Gary and his wife, Lilia. A memorial service will be held Jan. 25, at 1 p.m., at the Florence Elks Lodge with the Florence Masonic Lodge assisting. Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. HALE—Doris Joy (Kersten) Hale, 83, of Florence, passed away peacefully Jan. 3, 2015. Doris was born and raised in Wisconsin and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. She later worked as an occu- pational therapist. Doris was a beautiful and talented woman. As a young lady she sang in the choir and performed in music theater. She was a gifted artist who painted, drew and sculpted. She was an avid sports fan and an active member of her church. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Hale- Homewood and her husband, Chris, of Alamo, Calif.; and her son, William Hale, and his wife, Lisa, of Fairfax, Va. She also was the loving grandmother of Zoe Homewood and April Hale. She was a fantastic mother and friend. She touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.
