The month of October was a buwv one in the Clerks office of this county, in fact the work and receipts were the largest of any month in the history of the county. 257 instruments, including deedr, mortgages and mining notices were recorded, which brought in as fees $258.45. To this may idso be added if 11.2 5 hb fees for inarriagi: . licen g and !t 44 as circuit court feus, making the toral rtceipts of the olllee for the month amount to $313.70. In addi tion to the work entailed in the re cording and keeping the uccounts of the county, there was a i-ession of the county court, a sewnon of circuit court, the board of equalization and the extending of the delinquent tax roll. Three men have liecn "up to their ears" in work in this oflice dur ing almost the entire month, and tin receipts have been such as to aluioM , pay the salaries of all the county olflcers for the month. It is becoming evident that a pro vision must he made for the election of u county recorder or that provision must lie made for more help in tin Clerk's oflice. A county officer eam every cent of the salary ullowuti him and should not bu compelled to d:id it with deputy he must hire to keej up with thd work. Ilazaur.
