The up per rooms were filled with records. the greater part of "which were saved. There scorns at present to be seri ous doubt about Pinchbeck's admis sion to the Senate of Louisiana. His admission is opposed. earnestly on the ground that if Congress fails to legislate u'tion the Louisiana question the President will accept Pinchbeck's admission as another recognition of Kellogg's government. An attempt is being made to seat Pinchbeck under the vote " of the lleimblican caucus, but it is not yet settled whteher the caucus will so order. There is an impression that if Con gress fails to act the President will withdraw the troops from Louisiana. TI'.KIUTOitiAK MOWS ITKMV. The putrid sore throat is quite prevalent at Walia Walla. The driver, Uiough frozen; into a. beautiful "stiff,". was sitting upright, with an awful grim ness of face and a death grip on the lines. The Walla Walla Sb'tcsm-in of the l.'Irh says: Wih-b-aost the first fall of snow we heard of cattle dying, and within the last week, and since tiit. heavy snow fail, it is reported that tho cat Ho are dying by scores. Tho low price at which cattle had been ruling in this valley had made "owners eurcLsvnnJ hence they had made little or no provision foraliard winter. The cold, soaking rains all through-the months" of November and December also had thinned the cattle down and left them in a poor condition to Vtarid the told snap. The result is, with tho first really cold weather, the cattle began to die, and should the snow remain on the ground any considerable time, we may expect to hear that thousands have perished. Heavy Flood. California has been visited with a very destructive flood in the interior , of. that State, which occurred last Friday. The destruc tion of. property is said to be" im mense, and probably as large as that caused by the inundation of 1802. There are also rejiortcd loss of life.
