Knirrwt «a m «- o »4 via»» matter at the tDIIORIAL COMMINI We have decided to extend the time one week to those who wish to take advantage of our offer of two tickets to the fair with each subscription to the Herald, but you must call at the office for your tickets. ' - —♦♦♦ - — The Gresham Concert Band will be the official band for the lair. This is doing the boys jus tice and ensuring good music for the fair. There are many reas ons why the Fair Association acted wisely in securing the home band. It will do more, put more good will into it and work with in the limits of our purse than any other band would do. Good for the boys, and twice good for the Fair. ---------------- «w^--------------- The meeting held on Monday evening to consider plans for fair receptions arrived at the conclusion that any effort made by Gresham as a city to take part in the fair proceedings would be out of place. This is not Gresh am’s fair any more than it is some other place's fair and any effort to interpose would be un necessary and impolitic. Every business man will be expected to assist in the comfort of the visit ors of the visitors and a large reception committee has been arranged. -------------------"*•-•»----------------- We are ail waiting to see what the result of this Sunday closing spurt will be. Does the judge really mean to enforce the law or is he doing it for political effect or does he hope to play to both parties, making one believe he is working for the moral welfare of the people by strict enforcement, and at the same time gratifying the other class by the eventual result that the law will be de clared unconstitutional and everything be thrown wide open? So far the district attorney has proven himself awake to his job. Perhaps he is now.
