HEPPNER LADS WIN
Take Both Games From
Hood River Team.
In two very spirited pamea of
basketball. Thursday and Friday
eveiiiDgs of last week, the Heppuer
High School team defeated the
Piankton High School team by
scores of 23 to 7, and 25 to 10, re
spectively. In the matter of team work, the
locals showed the best form, their
method of passing the bail and
throwing baskets beiDg much more
effective than that of the isitors.
The Tisitors displayed a lack of
team work, but were always in the
game. They did not give up when
they knew they could oot win, but
fought with the spirit that makea
victory greater and removes the
bitterness of defeat. The Hood
River lads proved themselves good
losers, and should they return to
Heppner in the future, will find
cordial welcome here.
There was a good attendance at
both games and the enthusiasm
displayed by the crowd was very
encouraging tojthe players.
Maurice Smead refereed both
games and bis work was very satis
factory. Professor Stubbs of Frankton
High and Frank Gilliam acted as
time keepers and scorers.
