Lewis will speak in Heppner on socialism, Thursday, October 22 Andy Morgan was an incoming passenger Tuesday evening, from Moscow, Idaho. Thos. Oscar Borg returned Friday evening from Hot Lake, where he linn been takine treatment for Theumatism. He is greatly im proved. Rev. James Henderson will con duct services at All Saints church, Friday evening, the lGth, at 7:30, nd Sunday, the 18th, both morn ing and evening. Waldon Rhea was oyer from Butter creek for several days this week. He was hero to buy sheep. He bought 1200 coarse lambs from Paul Hisler for 82 per head. Estimates made by the sheep men of Lake county show that there has been a great decrease in the number of sheep in that county in the past two years. In 1906, there were- 500,000 sloep run on the range in that county, while at the present time there are only 200,O00. The reception given to Rev. and Mrs. Walter L. Airheart, of the M. E. church, at the home of Dr. and Mrs. N. E. iVinnard, last Friday evening was very pleasant and cor dial. During the evening a large number of people called at the liouse to welcome the new pastor to our town. The visitors were served with punch, and entertained with vocal and instrumental music. Yale has a ladies' hand. Eugene has provided 50 hitching posts around its parks. About 12,000 people attended the circus in Medford. Talk abo ut prosperity. Miss Lena Hughes went to Port land this morning where she will visit relatives. A party that went hunting at Loon lake killed a 1,200 pound elk and a big bear. . A whole orchard near Coquille has been grubbed up by order of the fruit inspector. The Wood river region in Klam ath county may become a great summer resort. Numerous sales of fruit and farming lands are occurring in Josephine county. Linn county citizens paid their taxes up to witnin $10,OCO belore the day when penalty became effective. Bought 250 Feeders. L. E. McBee came in Tuesday from the Izee country, in Grant county, where he had been buying cattle. Mr. McBee bought 250 head of three and four year-old feeders. He will feed at his Cecil ranch where he has 1000 tons of alfalfa. Mr. McBee states that he intends to hold and feed late. Some of the notorious Alaska wheat will be tried in Umatilla county.
