The Morrow Warehouse Milling
company is shipping iu a quantity
of Turkey Red wheat which will
be given a trial by some of tbe
farmers of this vicinity; Turkey
Red wheat is almost a new variety
for this county. What little that
has been tried has given very sat
is factory results. The grain
yields well, has short straw and is
excellent for milling purposes.
A very interesting reception was
given at the M., E. church,. South,
last Friday evening to Rev. W. A.
Orr and his family, who were as
signed to this charge for another
year. A large audience was pres
ent, many members of other
churches of the city being present
and taking part in the exercises,
showing -the high esteem in which
the pastor is held in this commun

ous parties, some singing, and a
fine lunch served.

It is common for a man or boy
to kill another while hunting, but
for a woman hunter to i-hoot a per
sou is something new. A Wallowa
county woman and her little girl
were out hunting grouse, the form
er aimed with a shotgun and the
latter with a-2-cnIiber riile. They
found a grouse and the girl fired t.t
it, but missed. As the bird" took
to wing the mother iired and Li i
the child instead.
Some years ago a Eugene man
was struck on the neck by a limb
while felling a tree and a large
splinter went into the muscles of j
his neck. It has just been re
moved.
tounday evening some . young
hoodlums who have absolutely no
sense at all, sat outside of one of
Eugene's churches with some squirt
guns ruled witu red ink or some
similar liquid and after ladies and
gentlemen went by would shoot it
upon their clothiug, utterly ruining
some fine dresses and new suits
Three mouths on a rock pile would
not be too severe a punishment for
such a dastardly trick.
That Pilot Ilock is to become a
fe 'ding ground and stock buying
center for the Armour Packing
company is now almost an assured jv
fact, say9 the East Oregcnian. Op
tions on two or three tracfs of land
adjacent to the town of Pilot Rock
have been secured by the big pack
ing company and this week tie
deal will be finally, closed for a
feeding ground, it is believed.
