Blood Humors Commonly cause pimples, boils, hives, eczema or salt rheum, or some other form of erup tion; but sometimes they exist In the system, Indicated by feelings of weakness, languor, loss of appetite, or reneral debility, without causing any breaking out. Hood's Karsaparilla expels them, renovates, strengthens and tones the whole system. This is the testimony of thousands annual!" BORAX IS NATURE'S MINE Of PURITY FOR DAIRY UTENSILS Borax is f rHt, a cleanser that removes dirt and grease with surprising ease; second, it is a sweetener that makes fra grant any surface that has grown musty or btale from neglect ; third, it is an an tiseptic or destroyer ol germs. It prevents the development of bacteria or mouldy growths. With all this it is perfectly free from harm in its resulting effects. The farm churn is kept free from that stale odor if it is washed with borax in the following proportions one table spoonful of borax to a quart f water. The dairy room lias nothing about it but the pleasant aro:na f fr Hit milk and cream and sweet butter if it ia kept clean with borax. There will be no soupy smell and do lurking hint of hoiks thing gone wrong. The cream crocks take on an extra freshness when washed with borax and watt-r in the following proportions one tablespoonful of Uirax to a quart of water. This preserves the fresh flavor of the cream. The farm cream separator can be kept thoroughly sweet and clean by a wash of borax and water in the following pro portions one tablespoonful of borax to a quart of water. lie sure that you get pure borax. To be WATS OP MEADOW MICE. Little Animal Will Rat Twenty-Six Pound of Vegetation In a Year. The meadow mouse makes a nest of grass blades In the ground In shallow burrows, and If the ground Is wet or sloughy puts It la a bunch of grass five or six Inches above the surface, says the Montreal Family Herald. The meadow mouse Is prolific. If the farm er had brood sows or cows or ewes that bred like meadow mice he would soon be overstocked. Most of the species produce from four to six Utters a year, the American species usually producing six at a time and four litters In a sea son. If there was nothing to stop the Increase the progeny of a single pair would In five seasons amount to over 2,000,000, and would about clear out the farmers' crops. What does this little fellow eat? Pretty hard to tell, because he grinds up his feed so fine that It takes nn ex pert to tell what It Is; but in summer It Is some kind of grass or vegetation, unripe seeds or grain and In winter whatever he can get. If he can find nothing better he takes the bark of a cherry or apple tree, and the fanner blames It on rabbits. It Is calculated that each grown meadow mouse re quires from twenty-four to twenty-six J pounds of green vegetation a year. lie Is particularly fond of strawberry beds, ! likes to nibble around at the plants in the garden and the- potatoes In the ground, or other winter stores, and Is rather fond of alfalfa and clover. In fact, there Is no green vegetation that 's not acceptable to the meadow mouse. Why is It, therefore, that they do not multiply? Because about everything Jiat Is canilverous has a tooth for meadow mice. The wolf, the fox, the coon, the oiossum, the mink, the skunk and the weasel all get a large amount of their living from meadow mice. So do hawks, owls, crows and the butcher bird. All these have a particular fond ness for meadow mice. I The meadow mouse has never done any very serious damage In this coun-1 a. a a. ij ii tt a t . J. It never pays to dis turb the plans of nature. The way to avoid a calamity of this kind Is to let the natural enemies of meadow mice alone, unless they de velop particularly obnoxious habits; drnln out swamps; adopt a rotation of crops that will require the plowing up of grass lands every three or four years; to destroy all weeds, trash and litter, particularly In the orchard, and thus prevent meadow mice from baring good winter quarters. If these meth ods are followed there Is no danger; but If the small boy Is allowed to use his gun at his pleasure we may be In the same shape that the farmers of Scotland were some years ago, when the landlords waged war on the hawks and owls because It was supposed they Interfered with the young pheasants which the nobility came to shoot Pennsylvania farmers were In the same predicament after the Legislature of fered a bounty for a few years on 'awks and owls. Physicians Recommend Castoria fOASTOEIA has met with pronounced favor on the part of physicians, pharma- ceutical societies and medical authorities. It is used by physicians with results most gratifying. The extended use of Castoria is unquestionably tho result of three facts: The indisputable evidence that it is harmless: Second That it not only allays stomach pains and quiets tho nerves, but assimi lates the food : nrdlt is an agreeable and perfect substitute for Castor Oil. It is absolutely safe. It does not contain any Opium, Morphine, or other narcotic and does not stupefy. It is unlike Soothing Syrups, Bateman's Drops, Godfrey's Cordial, etc. This is a good deal for a Medical Journal to say. Our duty, how ever, is to expose danger and record the means of advancing health. The day for poisoning innocent children through greed or ignorance ought to end. To our knowledge, Castoria is a remedy which produces composure and health, by regulating the system not by stupefying it and our readers are entitled to the information. Hall 's Journal of Health. Letters from Prominent Physicians addressed to Chas. II. Fletcher. Dr. B. Halstead Scott, of Chicago, Ills., says: "I have prescribed your Castoria often fer InfantB during my practice, and find It very satisfactory." Dr. William Belmont, of Cleveland, Ohio, says: "Your Castoria Btanda first in Its class. In my thirty years of practice I can say I never have found anything that so filled the place." Dr. J. H. Taft, of Brooklyn, N. Y., says: "I hare used yoar Castoria and found it an excellent remedy in my household and private practice for many years. The formula is excellent." Dr. It. J. Hamlen, of Detroit, Mich., says: "I prescribe your Castoria extensively, as I have never found anything to equal it for children's troubles. I am aware that there are Imitations in tho field, but I always see that my patients get Fletcher's." Dr. "Wm. J. McCrann, of Omaha, Neb., says: "As the father of thirteen children I certainly know something about your great medicine, and aside from my own family experience I have in my years of practice found Cas toria a popular and efficient remedy in almost every home." Dr. J. R. Clausen, of Philadelphia, Pa., says: "The tame that your Cas toria has made for itself in the tens of thousands of homes blessed by the presence of children, scarcely needs to be supplemented by the endorse ment of the medical profession, but I, for one, most heartily endorse It and believe it an excellent remedy." Dr. R. M. "Ward, of Kansas City, Mo., says: "Physicians generally do not prescribe proprietary preparations, but in the case of Castoria my experi ence, like that of many other physicians, has taught me to make an ex ception. I prescribe your Castoria in my practice because I have found it to be a thoroughly reliable remedy for children's complaints. Any physi cian who has raised a family, as I have, will join me in heartiest recom mendation of Castoria." On returning home he described the horrors he had seen, and his de scription made a deep impression on the mind of his little daughter Mary. The wTiter and his offspring-, a week lab.r, were in a train together, which stopped at a station near a gloomy building. A man asked : "What place Is that?" "The county Jail," another answered promptly. Whereupon Mary embarrassed her father and aroused the suspicion of the other occupants of the carriage by ask- jlng.
