The sheep shearing season is almost
here. Io the Columbia river countrv,
in this county, a number of fleeces will
be clipped this week. An early spring
means early shearing. The bnsy sea

sheep ranch near Hardman, Saturday.
Mr. Wright states that sheep are doing
fine, but that the grass is not growing

two weeks ago, owing to tbe cool nights.
Joe Hayes, Jr., who was in from the
Hayes ranch on Butler creek tbe latter
part if last week, reports stock in fine
abape. They are building two immense

G. M. Levelett, an old pioneer and
keeper of the Wall creek station, came

he moved a little over a year ago, after
isposiug of his property in this country.
John Tasb, of Clark's Canyon, was in
the city Monday. Mr. Tash states that
fall sown grain is boking exceptionally
good in his locality. The ground is too
wet for spring seeding, but the farmers
are glad to see it.
Nearly every fruit tree in Lexington
as been sprayed with a lime and sul-
pher solutioo, tor San Jose scale, dur
ing the past two weeks. The Willow
creek valley can and does produce as
ne fruit as any part of Oregon, when
the orchards are given proper care.
