Shelter, a letter in which the boundaries of the divisions of the Blue mountain forest reserves are set out, The letter is as follows: 'Under instructions from the depart ment, I have divided the eastern division of the Blue mountains foreBt reserve into the following districts: District No. 1. All that part of said reserve lying west of the summit, from the north line of the reserve, aa far south as the North Fork of the John Day river, Granite creek, Bull Run and road leading from Granite to Sumpter. District No. 2. All that part of the said reserve lying east of the summit from the north line, aa far south aa the North Powder Lakes and An tone ciVat District No. 3. All that part of Mid reserve lyiog weat of the summit and aoutb of the North Fork of the John Day river, Granite creek, Bull Run and tho WBg0Q road leading from Granite to gan,pter and North of the Middle Fork of the John Day river and wagon road leading from Austin to Bnrnt river. A strip one mil wide is allowed through this range, known as the sheep trail. 8beep to be kept one and one- balf miles from any settlement on Kel sey and Desolation creek. These rules should be adhered to for thia aeason, and at the next general meeting, every participant of this re serve should be present, or send dele gates, to agree upon allotments men tioned in forest reserye, order No. 35. Sheep are excluded as heretofore from grazing iu the former Baker City forest reserve, which is now a part of the eastern division of the Blue Mountains forest reserye. San Francisco, June 7 The Chron icle publishes a statement showing the capital and surplus of' the insurance companies which lost by the recent fire and their estimated risks in this city, the total of the latter being placed at 1290,780,090. "From this," says the Chronic'e, "deduct 15 per cent to arrive at the insurance in the burned district, and one has the total of f -'52.363,000. The domestic companies, on the 15 per cent deduction, have risks to tbe amount of $138,155,750 in the burnfd district, and to meet it have a capital and surplus of 8131,437 000. While the rieks of the foreign companies, on that basis, amount to $114,287,750, and tbeir surplus in America amounts to only 131,989,000, yet they have a world capital and aurp'us of $138,887,000.
