Following ia the report of the grand jury: In the Circuit Court of the State of Ore gon for Morrow County. In the matter of the report of the Grand Jury for the November term 1904. To Hon. W. R. Ellis, Circuit Judge. We your Grand Jury duly drawn for the November term of the above en titled court 1904, having finished our labors respectfully report as follows: We have been in session three days, and have diligently inquired into all matters brought before us or citning to our attention. We have found and re turned two true bills, and after careful and thorough investigation and deliber ation have failed to find true bills or to bring indictments in the other matters considered by us. We have visited and inspected all tbe county offices and the Poor Farm, and also investigated the conduct of all county and district offices, and we find that all such offices are being carefully conducted with competent officials. We would recommend however that the management of the Poor Farm be improved. Upon an inspection of tte house where the county charges are kept, we find that the rooms are not as cleanly as they should be, and that im mediate attention should be given to r,n improvement in that respect. Having completed our labors we re spectfully ask to be discharged. S. M. White, -E. L. Ereeland, J. L. Ykageb, John Kilkenny, T. A. Allyn, H. M, Olden. T. J. Matlock. The two true bil s above referred to in the report of the grand jury were P. C. Creswell, for assault with a dangerous weapon. Lee French, same. French plead guilty and was fined $50. Like all ot'jer raw lands, thisUnd will be gr.atly improved bv culti vation, and will produce a greater yield in the future, as it is impossible to put any land in high state of cultivation in one season, Btlow is the statement which ppaks for itself: lone, Oieuon, Aug. 20, 19C4. As good cake can be made only with good eggs, so also a cake that is health ful as well as dainty must be raised with a pure and perfect baking powder. Royal Baking Powder is indispensable in the preparation of the highest quality of food. It imparts that peculiar light ness, sweetness and flavor noticed in the finest cake, biscuit, doughnuts, crusts, etc., and what is more important, renders the food wholesome and agreeable to young and old. Morrow County's Wheat Landi Will Never Wear Out. That the soil of Morrow cornty is rich, especially in wheat producing qualities l as been p'oyen by practical test. A chemical test of a quantity f Mor row county soil tal-en fro n the wheat belt near lone, Morrow county, recently made by the late Proffessor Henry, of the Smithsonian institute of Washing ton, D. C , reveals the fact that this soil is of the same identical composition as that of Sicily , or a pure unqual fied voicanic at-h, iccapable of destruction, ncapable of I eing sapped of its strength , neapable of loss of soil, force or en ergy, incapable of being weakened by the g.o th of strong crops, or by any contious process of single crop produc tion. Sicily has produced wheat f r 2000 years and has never produced a heavier crop than that of 1903. Her eoil is self reoperating yo'canic ash that supplies its own force, that yields nothing. It is simply pulverized and vitalized lava, and while it is not rich and deep and black H9 the washed alluvial of the river bottoms of Europe, it is inde structible, ad has an endless strength and vitality. The total of the ate receipts to the intercollegiate football game at Berkeley, ChI., November 12. was $30,300. Only one flock of sheep in Gil liam county is scabby.
