LEXINGTON NEWS. Lhxington, May 27, 1003. Ed Wood returned from Port land, Friday, Charley Morey moved to his ranch Monday. W. 13. McAlieter returned from Portland, Friday. Miss Ruth ach is visiting in Heppner this week. Al Zink and James Cypert went to Monument Tuesday to shear sheep. Prof. J. D. Brown, of the Wil lows, visited in Lexington Monday and Tuesday. Several head of cattle have died in this vicinity recantly from eat ing too much alfalfa. Our city election will occur next Monday. The campaign has not warmed up much as yet. Mrs. Laurence McAlister, who has been visiting her parents for a few weeks, left for her home in Washington, Thursday. N. S. Phelps and wife, Mrs. Hattie Lee, Miss Mary Reaney and Oscar Feuu returned from Port land, Friday, where they bad gone to see the President. Rev. E. R. Beach and Miss Florence Armstrong were married at lone last Thursday, Rev. J. L. Jones ofliciating. We wish them many years of wedded bliss. Mrs. J. M. Turner and daughter, Emma, returned from Heppner Saturday. They returned Tues day, so that Miss Emma may have the treatment for cancer continued. ITlnn tana Man is Missing. Butte, Mont., May 22. Howard Ab b )tt, secretary and t easnrer of the Bij; Flour Taper & Pulp Company, of Bir Fork. Mont., and the Mauhattan Paper Mills, is missing. Mr. Abbott left Helena about midnight May 3, and his whereabouts since that time are a mystery. It is believed that his mind is de ranged, it being said that he was so affected for a period of nine months about six years ago. Mr. Abbott is a prominent member of the Montana Club, and is well known throughout the state. The striking coal miners at Dunsmuir's mines, on Vancouver Iand, claim the Western Federa tion of Miners ia not giving them f .ir support in their struggle. Timber Land, Act Jane 3, 178.
