KidJ is ouly getting what he de ferred, tha fall limit of the law. It has been recommended fry the republican itate committee that the rary election be held on . March L'Jd. Tfcis f mphafizes the necessity of registf-riDg At this time only a small per cent of the voters of Morrow county have reg istered. Voters who intend to Tote must regietur. A few minutes time now taken to register will are a whola lot of trouble later on It certainly looks bad for Mr. Moody when his borne paper, The Dalles Chronicle, the leading pa pier of Wasco county, will not sup port him, in fact is absolutely op posed to him. The voice of the people of Eastarn Oregon is heard in the press. The political ma chine wants Moody. The people want Williamson. In a nutshell, this is the congressional situation. The new tax law deals openly, fairly and in a businesslike way with taxpayers. The rebat of 3 per cent allowed for the payment of the amount of each indmdual tax withiu 30 days "from the date of the opening ot the tax roll is an ordinary business procedure, which should make the sheriff's office a buy rlace between now ar i the l 'th of March. Oregonian. At the present tima the outlook for Morrow county is very favor able. There will be a large wool clip of excellent quality. E&atern and foreign wool markets now present encouraging prospeetn. With the a-surance of a big clip and a favorable oat look for good price, aheap men are in good spirits. Wnile the "market for taction sheep is a little off, not be ing ax good as it was last year, etill this cuts but very little figure hk the wool industry is the main feature. The wheat acreage in Morrow county tLia season is the largest in the history of the county, and a gr-&t portion of it is sum tnerfallowed land. Reporte from the wheat districts indicate good prospect. The rain of last fall gave wheat a start and it has made considerable growth during the winter. With a large wool clip. and a good wheat crop. The wolves and coyotes have be come such a nuisance in Arizona that the sheep meu and cattle men have organized and are preparing for a wolf and coyote round-up. The dogs which will take part in this round up are cross-bred grey aod stag hounds. J. A Rankin of LaSalle, Colo., sold Isst week on the Omaha mark et a bunch of Colorado- Mexican lambs, 145 bead averaging 72 pounda at $6. Mr. Rankin alao sent in a lead of Colorado ewes that were good enough to bring f 4. Xear Great Falls, in Montana, large prairie fires have been rag ing, which have endangered the sheep greatly. In the Sweet Grass j Hills much hay has been spoiled and thn sheep men have found it necessary to move their sheep to another range. The Colorado lamb feeders feel jubilant over the ideal winter they are having for feeding. They claim that their lambs never looked better at this time of the year The feeders lost so much money last year that they were more par ticular in picking their lambs this year and as a result the lambs that will be marketed this spring will be of a better class than have been marketed for several years. Another big land sale has been made by tha laud department of the Northern Pacific to McGregor Eros., the sheep kings of Whit man CDuntVj Washington. The land which is 241,000 acres of graz ing lands in the extreme western part of the county, is unfit for ag ricultural purposes, but furnishes good pasture for aheep and cattle. IONE HAPPENINGS The city council purchased of K. G. It was wise thing to do. The revival meeting held fiere duriii the last three weeks closed last Sunday veutng. The Beck family went from here to Arling ton to assist in a series of meet ings to be held thera. Much in terest was manifested here in the meetings and much good done by tbem. Everybody has a good opinion of the Beck family, and were sorry to see them leave Iono. A mass meetiog was held here yesterday for the purpose of con sidering the advisability of build ing a court house as contemplated by the county court. It was large ly attended and unanimously op posed to the building being erect d at this time. It would seem that if the couuty court has the leat regard for the feelings of the large majority of the taxpayers of the whole county that they would listen to the voices sent in from all the precincts and retrain from tak iog arbitrary action until the tax payers say to build the court house.
