sentative on the fusion ticket, was in
Heppner yesterday. Mr. Stanton bas
been on the sick list this spring, bat Is
much improved at present.
A mortor, fired as a salute when the
westbound train arrived at Baker City
with the Idaho troops on board, on last
Thursday, exploded killing a six-year
old boy named Curtis Spencer.
Sheriff Matlock returned from Salem,
where be bad been to oonvey a crazy
man to tbe asylum, Saturday morning,
He stopped over at Portland on the re
turn trip to see bis daughter, Mrs. E. A.
Yaugban, and reports her as improving
rapidly.

two or three times a day from this office
