Tomorrow the republicans will name the ticket that will be in the lead next June. We believe more unpledged delegates will go into convention tomorrow than ever before in the history of Morrow county. This is as it should be. Select tlie stongest men and then let the rank and file do their entire duty and victory is assured. AN IMPORTANT POINT. J. W. Morrow and John Rasmns cams op from Portland Wednesday morning, where they bad been in attendance at the democratic state convention. Mr, ioine w general, reoognized and the L,orrow WM nomjnllted for joiot M011,( r reasona for it are baaed opon natural and unavoidable condition!. First, the need of each a medicine ia more imperative at tbia eeason than at en) other. Daring the winter the blood has become loaded with impnritiee and robbed of its vitality. These impurities must be expelled and new vitality given, if good health ia to be ezpeoted through the coming eeason. for Morrow, Qrant and Harney coontici on the fusion ticket. Mood's Pills No one can successfully claim that the republican convention ia packed this time. Experience is a bitter teacher, but people never forget, lessons learned in her school. A more representative body of republicans never have met in Morrow county than will convene here tomorrow morning. L Now that the primary election for the ohoosing of delegates is a thing of the past we are ready for reflection upon the subject of possible candidates before the state convention which meets at Astoria on April 14tb. All are united in the desire for the eeleotion of the very best men for the several positions, al though we may not all be ready, at this moment, to name the same men for eaob plaoe. There is one place, however, about which there seems to be great unani mity of opinion, judging from our ex obangea, and that is the position of state superintendent of public instruction The unanimous verdiot seems to be that J. H. Aokermnn, principal of the Harri son street school, Portland, is the very best man for the plaoe. In this opinion the school interests of Morrow oounty unite. Prof. Aokermnn is personally known to the teaohers here as he has come in oontact with themintbeoapaoity of instructor at the oounlv institute. In selecting a man for the position of state superintendent of publio instruc tion, in our humble judgment, there is just one consideration to be taken into aooonnt, a consideration of great mag nitude as tar as the sohool interests are conoerned, and that is the ability of the candidate to appreciate the needs of the public sohoola of the state and especial ly with ns, the needs of Heppner and Morrow connty, and bis equipment to meet the sitnation as it exinto. From all we can learn about Prof. Ackerman we are led to the oonolnsion that he is prepared to serve the people of the state and incidentally onr own interests most acceptably, as he is above everything else a pnblio sohool man, having been engaged 1 1 that work for the past twentw three yanrs. He is a graduate of one of the best normal sohnols in the United Stntos, and has had four years servioo as comity school superintendent of Multnomah county. There are quite a few people living over In Mnltnomuh connty, and we know of no better plane for a school man to ao- qnire special training that we may bene fit by his f xperiet'oe io tmi'ding np our public school system. We want the best there is for oar pat lie schools , pnrlinnUi Iv our rural sohools, and the roan that lias a lurge sympathy and thorough unitVrstauilini; along those hues ia the mnn to rrceive the support of the Morrow enmity delrgNtinn. Hnoh a man we believe J. II. Aokrrman to be, anil he is posm-med of an energy and capacity (or hard work tbut niakts him popular with the people.
