K astm an, of th is city, had ra th e r an u n p leasan t ex perience Monday aftern o o n of this week, in which his m o to r cycle w as com pletely wrecked. Mr. E astm an h as been a t Fails City for several days in stalling a large h eatin g plant. Monday he sta rte d fo r Dallas upon his m otorcycle to see about business m atters, and when about four miles o u t of halls City it becam e necessary to cross th e railroad track . II seem s th a t th ere is quite a deep cut a t th e crossing, ami he was unable to see an approaching freight train in tim e to get out of the way. Mr. E astm an says th at several box cars w ere be ing pushed nhead of th e engine which rendered it difficult to see just w h at w as com ing. When he saw th a t it w as too late to stop, he gave th e engine the power and tried to beat the box cars to the crossings. He alm ost m ade it.
