James Leech, of Portlaud, it visiting 1 at M. B. Young’s. Earl Moore, o f Sheridan, cap tured a bird this week which is a bird this week which is a puzzle as to its genus and specie, and natural scientists have never seen its like before. It has a face exactly like that o f a mon key, while the tail is long and monkey like in character. It assumes facial expressions ex actly like those o f a human be ing. Meat is the principal diet o f the bird, whirh goes to sul- stantiate the theory that th i bird has a monkey ancestry. Some declare that the bird is a native o f India and is known as the sa cred owl, which the native Indi ans worship: others assert that it is known as the morikey-faced owl, also a native o f India. The theory is that the bird found its way to the Pacific coast from a wrecked ship coming from the Orient. Another and more prob able theory is given out by old residents that the freak is the progeny o f some like birds ex hibited by a circus which show ed there about ten years ago, dis banded and turned the birds loose. $ «) 60 Mr. and Mrs,.
