Its city official, can make or mar its present condi tion and do much to influence its fu ture. A Usly of men who hold back improvements by reason of cost or oth erwise are not advantageous to a city’s progress. Conservatism, while well enough in its place, can easily be car ried to such an extent as to become mossbackism. Every town must ei ther progress or retrograde. There is no standing still. The minute you liegin to slip back down the icy in cline of inactivity, it is such easy going that oftentimes much damage is done ere the fact is fully realized by those concerned. When city officials have been found who arc progressive, w ho are doing their best to subserve the town’s interest in every way, who give freely of their time and ex|icrienec to do so, without ho|ic of reward or pe cuniary benefit, other than than the satisfaction of their own consciences as to labor well performed, the Itemizer thinks that they should be kept in office as long as they volun teer to serve. Such is our honest and candid opinion in the matter, looking at it from an entirely unbiased stand point, and thinking only of the city’s welfare, individually and collectively.
