The street races will be held on Mill street, the outcome being located at the big
stand tent.

quet room in which to hold their dinner next Thursday.

On Sunday morning after the carnival will occur nearly a total eclipse of the sun.
The committee have nothing to do with arranging for this event.
In anticipating the large cro vu’ IF at will be in attendance Mr. Arnold has enlarged
his big tent from a three to a four pole one, capable of seating 2,000 people.
Mr. C. L. Crider having found business entirely to brisk for him to give the proper
attention to committee work, Ned Shaw was substituted for him cm the sports com-
mttee, which now consists of Ned Shaw, Carl Fenton and H. C. Seymour.
Hon. Wm Kaiser, of Salem, will deliver the address on Pioneer day in the morning at
the camp ground, where all pioneers are asked to assemble at 10 o’clock. Band music
by the Sheridan and Dallas bands will be rendered. At noon a banquet will be given
at the Woodman hall. In the afternoon Dean Collins will read an original poem at th ?
campground, and then will come the business session of the association, followed by
short talks, etc.
The several committees met in the Itemizer office last Tuesday evening and formula­
ted definite plans of entertainment, somewhat in the line of the program published on
another page with a number of additional features. It is desired to have a distinct
feature for each day in addition to those already given, and will probably result in a
baby show for Monmouth and Independence day, and a public wedding for Falls City
day. It being found that more funds were needed, Mr. Dean Collins, local reporter on
(the Observer staff, was appointed to circulate a paper for additional subscriptions.
