HELP ONE ANOTHER.
Should von meet .in erring lirotlicr.
Who, perchance, hath koiio astray ;
Spook n Kindly word unto lilin,
It will be the better way.
t)n not add one bitter sorrow
l)d not trv to iuh liltn down
.mid holimix hand untolilni.
When misfortune gather 'round.
Should It happen, when out walking,
That vou mn"t. an aged man.
Do not jostle him unkindly,
.lust because you're young ami ean.
Ho was once as voting anil active,
In Hie years long passed uway,
Then extend a friendly greeting,
Now he's feeble, old and gray.
Should temptation's wiles assail thee,
To their allurements give no heed,
For they'll bear thee on to ruin,
If yoii follow where thev lend.
Kvor" strive to do eaeh duty
Shun the path that leads to sin.
Let thy deeds be Just and faithful,
And an honored name you'll win.
Let us learn to help each other,
Let us sieal: a cheering woid
To the heart bowed down with sorrow.
Let kind aets be not deferred.
Kindly words, like summer sunshine,
Drive dark shadows from our way,
Then let us strive to help eaeh other.
And ne'er friendship's trust betray.

Tho obforvcr of tlio Orugon Wouthor
H u ron u, of l'mlland, Oregon, litis is
Httiul Uio htillctiu for tlio week oiuling
March 28, which is as follows:
U'KATIIKR.
Continued cool, partly cloudy wouth
or, with showorn, has prevailed. The
nights hiivc hucn very cool, sovorul
fnvsjs occurring, which did no damage,
A slight hail storm of small area oc
currctl in Clackamas and Wnsco coun
ties on the 28th, and in Washington
county on the 27th. Snow foil on the
Cascades on the 1 7th and 20th, also in
Morrow county on tho 22d which mel
ted as fast as it fell. Homo snow yet
remains on the ground in Gilliam,
Grant, Crook and Klamath counties
In the mountains the snow has not yet
commenced to melt. In parts of Ore
gon tho ground freezes tit night and
thaws in the day time.
CliOl'H.
The showers during tho week have
kept tho soil very moist, so much so
that in the Willamette valley spring
seeding and plowing has been greatly
retarded. Seeding is faither advanced
in Southern Oregon, while in Umatilla
county it is about one-half done. In
Morrow county an unusually largo
acreage will bo sown. Throughout all
of Kastcrn Oregon tho boil is well mois
tened and tho prospects for excellent
crops are good. Throughout the state
winter wheat is reported to have stood
the winter well and to ho of good stand
and color. There was very little froz
en out. In Clackamas county tho
wheat is six inches high.
Gra.ss has a good start, but is some
what slow in growth. In Yamhill
county the acreage of oats, hay and
fruit has increased, tho lattor very
largely to. There is a slight shortago
in winter wheat.
Fruit is very backward. Tho season
is very favorablo to it however, for it's
being now retarded insures it against a
possible late frost. Peaches, almonds
and apricots aro in bloom in many sec
tions ; pear and cherry buds aro swel
ling. Currants, goose and strawberries
aro in bloom. Fruit prospects are, in
deed, very Mattering and if no unusual
conditions ariso tho yiold will bo largo.
The stock aro reported in goon con
dition. Jhingo is good for them and
thero has been little loss during tho
winter. Tho lambing season is on and
thero is very little loss roported. Loss
rain would bo more beneficial to thorn,
Tho spring wool clip promises to bo
largo, clean and of good quality.
liKAl.TII.
Lagrippo is prevalent in 6omo sec
tions but no deaths. Measles aro com
mon in various counticB. Tho general
health is, however, good.
Tho general conditions of tho wouth
or most needed aro warmth and sun
shine with occasional showers.
