Walla to Tacornsi via Portland for the
Bftmn rate as it cli irged to carry it to
Portland, from which place it was ta
ken in steamships to 1'uget sound.
Notice has been received here that on
tho 27th of September this rate will bo
withdrawn, and all wheat shipped (o
Taconm via Portland will pay $1.70 to
Portland and local rated from there to
Tacomti. It is reported that quite a
larje amount of wheat has boon hauled
to warehouses on tho lino of tho O. It.
fc N. for shipment to Tacoma. Of
course it won't go there when tho new
rate goo into effect, but willscok mar
ket at Portland. Tho moral of all this
is to encourago the Hunt system in all
