l "NASAL VOICES, CATARRH AND FALSE TEETH." A prominent English womnn say the American women all have higl shrill, nasal voices and false teeth. Americans don t like the constant wittiue thty get about this nasal twang, and yet it is a fact caused by our dry stimulating atmosphere, and the universal presence of catarihal difficulties. Hut wny snouHl so many ot our women have false tteth? That is more of a poser to the Eng lish It is quite impossible to accoun for it except on the theory of deranget stomach action caused hy imprudence m eating and by want of regjilur ex ercise. Both conditions are unnatur.il. Catarrhal trouble everywhere pre vail and end in cough and consunip tion, which are promoted by nial-iiu trition induced by deiauged stomach action. The condition is a modern one, ouo unknown to our ancestors who prevented the catarrh, cold cough and consumption by abundant and regular use of what is now known as Warner's Log Cabin Cough and Consumption Kemedy and Log Cabin fc rsaparilla, two old fashioned stan ilai'l remedies hamleit down Irom our anoe.-ors, and now exclusively put forth under the strongest guarantees of purity and efheacy by the world turned ma'-' of urner s safe cure These two remedies plentifully used as the spring and summer seasons ad v.mce give a positive assurance of freedom, both from catarrh and those dreadful and if neglected, inevitable consequences, pneumonia, lung troubles and consumption, which so generally and fatally prevail 111110115; our people. Comrade Eli Fisher, of Salem Henry Co., Iowa, served four years in the late war and contracted a disease called consumption by the doctors. He had frequent hemorrhages. After using Warner's Log Cabin Cough and Consumption Kemedv, he says, un der date of January 19th, 188S : "I do not bleed at the lungs any more, my cough does not bother me, and I do not have any more smothering spells." Warners Log Cabin nous Cream cured 111s wue ot catarrh and she is "sound and well." Of course we do not like to have our women called nose talkers and Wse teeth owners, but these ondi Hons can be readily overcome in the manner indicated. USEFUL AND SUGGESTIVE. Salts of li'tii'iii will knife handles that have low. whiten ivory become yel- Flour should bo wanned before making up a sponge if you would have your bread rise quickly. To have poached eggs look very nice, cook each egg in a inullin ring placed in the bottom of a saucepan of boiling water. 'Exercise enough to make rct de lightful is good; sullicient to make one toss wearily and sleeplessly through the night hours is wasteful and ex haustive. To clean a carpet ami brighten the colors after the dust has been well beaten and shaken out of it, mix one quart of ox gall with three quarts of cold soft water and rub the carpet oil with a llannel dipped in this. It is well to first rub out any particularly dirty spots before going over the whole carpet, Sponge Drops: Heat four eggs to a stiff froth, then stir in one heaping cup of sugar, and one and a third cups ol flour. One toaspoonful of baking pow der should bo thoroughly mixed with the flour. Flavor with lemon and drop from ti dessert spoon on buttered papei spread 011 plates.'' The oven should bo hot and the cakes will bake in a few minutes. A little borax in water is as good as any thing for washing tho head, and this should bo used frequently. Do not make tho solution too strong, as it has a tendency to cause tho hair to be come dry and brittle. Froquont brush ing, especially before going to bed, will make the hair soft and glossy. A sharp toothed comb or metallic brush should not bo used. Fried Bread: One quart of flour, one toaspoonful of salt, tlrreo of baking powder, and milk enough to mako it as stiff as biscuit dough. Roll it out and cut into square cakes two inches long and a littlo over half an inch thick. Drop them into boiling lard. Thej only requiro a few minutes cook ing, and whon properly made thoy are so nice that they will soon become a family institution. A Fortunate Irut;i;It. Jtr. Edwin W. Some St. Louis attorneys aro now preparing documents for forty claim ants who are to bring stilt for the re covery of $40,000,000 of property lo cated in the heart of that city, nntl "com prising twenty blocks lying chiefly be tween Third street on the east, Jeffer son avenue on tho west, Olive street on tho north, and Pine street on thf south. Tho claimants are somo of the heirs of Jean 13. Hecquette. The property is known as survey 901, and was con firmed to the legal representatives of Bccquettu by an act of Congress passed April 2D, 1816. The land was surveyed in 1826, and the survey returned to the recorder of land titles for tho United States in July. 1828. According to the record in the case. Marguerite Hortiz (born Becquette). in August, 18:15, con veyed all her interest in said land to John H. Lucas. Lucas1 interest, it is assert ed, was only an undivided half there in. Marie IWnilu (born Becquette) and her uhiltlrjii. it eetns, were heirs also to one undivided half of the prop erty, and it is her descendants who are now about to lake measures to enforce their rights an.l claim to this undivided half. This means that the title to inon than $40,000,000 worth of property will bo tested. Una of the attorneys who has the matter in char ire, N. O.
