These gentleman will soon commence
making a V flume fiom the head
waters of North Powder rivrr to the
town of North Powder. The flume
will be used for floating timber, ties
and wood.
From a Boiso city paper wo learn
that a shoemaker by thu mi mo of
Clarence McSweeney became intoxica
ted, and while in that condition, laid
down on the floor of his loom, and
was found chilled through and his limbs
frozen. Ho died a few hours after
ward. This is, without doubt, tho
McSwceney who formerly resided in
Union.
Mr. Boothe of this city is in receipt
of a letter from E. R. Simpson, of
John's Town, Jay Gould camp, Lewis
A Clarke Co., Montana, stating that a
lady Mrs. S. E. Boltinghouhe, died
at that placo on tho filh inst., from the

of where her relatives are living. As
Mr. Simpson desires to communicate

on us yesterday. He is as jovial as

Vice-President T. J. Potter of the
Union Pacific left Wednesday night
for his homo in Burlington, Iowa, to
remain there, away from tho pressure
of business, until ho regains his health,
