NEW YEAU'S ClIUIKS.
Once more across the leafless land
Wc hear the peal of New Year's chimes;
The young and old stand hand In hand,
And dream the past in present timoi.
There is a story in the belli
That conies in whispers through the air;
Of love to some their imi'ic tells,
They fcigh to others of despair.
A year spo! yon can't forget
The darkness of lat New Yenr'3 night,
A little robin, cold and wet.
Flew d ized and hungry to tho light.
Our holly wreathes unwlthercd Ftill,
The glad New Year had scarce! v come,
We heard a shout across the hill,
Our long-lost brother had come home.
"Good will and peace!'' in lrnfy scroll
We JihW above the chance 1 dim";
We lit aril the mighty organ roll
Kb nitric for the Obrhtm.ts hymn.
The sermon was of love and all
Uprose, just blent a Chiitian fold;
Still many kisses nivcr fall,
For death has made their lips go cold.
King on, ye Now Year's bel's of peace;
Biug on of love that never dies:
The love that Lists through lifo must ccaso,
ine nie oi cleanness sympathies;
King out ths only true belief
Across the meadows and the plain,
The woods once moro will smile in leaf,
The summer lloweis will came again.
This is the music of the chimes
That crushes hate and kills despair;
The gospel of the good old times,
Fining with love t lie vtry air;
Though hope lie buried, it will r'sa,
Thoudi sorrow triumphs, 'twill depart;
Love will re'ight grief-wasted eves
And fill with iov the empty heart.

"Wo are willing to wager our full

an instrument for tho special use of

Build a fire in a heating stove im

minus the handle, then, although it is
for bachelors, a piece of old calico drees

sult will not follow ; place tho Wedge,
incased in the fragment of feminine
garb, under Ihefetovo and let it remain
there until after church, but be careful
and keep full contiol of your mental
powers, and to do this let the young
men accompany all the stray girls
home, who maybe at chinch; upon
arriving at your home, crawl into your
"bunk" with the sledge-hammer and
the full reward for your trouble will be
the result. If Hub is not genius, wo
