seen that the lieu lands of the North- j
crn Pacific grant have reverted to the
government, and on and after No

j and entry under the land laws. The
urineni racinc has ncni for many
years fifty miles on each side of their

miles being known as lieu lands.
This ten mile limit has been restored
to the uses of tho actual settler, the
commissioner holding that the railroad

The report has spread Mint ihe whole
grant has been restored to settlement,
but there is no truth in it. The lieu
lands only have been restored. A

will get one-half of this amount back,
and it will bo the menus of placing a
