ROSEBURG REVIEW FRIDAY, MARCH, 12, 188C. Continued from page 1. . . THURSDAY AFTERNOON. Children are better than they were a century ago IL. L. Benson. Miss Delia Jackson read an interest ing paper on "Tardiness." Try talk ing. If this is ineffectual, keep them in at recess. If both of these fail, then try the efficacy of the rod. Miss Lucy Hay introduced the sub joct of "Fractions." Teaching fractions like teacl ing music, is a drill. Miss Hay illustrated several methods by which this relation of fractions in addi tion and multiplication may be easily explained to children. ! B. McElroy stated that at Hon. E. the solicitation of the State Board of Education nnblialmiflr I' " requesting! circulars were sent to the bouses in the United States such companies to send 8eeiuien copies of text books on hy giene to the County School Superin tendents for their inspection; and as a result, the County Superintendents adopted the .latest edition of Steelti Hygiene. ; Prof. Mark F. Jones rendered the "Mocking bird" upon the organ. State Supt. McElroy by request introduced "Organization and gradin District schools." The choi ce of schoo1 should be considered. The contract should be in writing, and many diffi cultics would be avoided. There is more competition for schools than number practically dead. Others are lalf dead. Every man should be a eader in his plane.j He who la bors neither with hand nor mind lacks every element that constitutes a .1 t ' livins man. Animation must go with man in every detail iii life. . No ani mation makes man a in.ere machine; a little animation makes a middle man; and much animation makes a truly liv ing man. Parents, ilach by precept the importance of animation. Teacher it is your noble mission to emancipate the mind. Make yo irself a necessity to the community in which you live. The lecture was high! appreciated by all. Dignity and earnestness enabled the speaker to lead his large audience through realms where men but seldom tread. . Vocal duet by Misses Minnie Ruckels and Delia Party. Rev. J. R. N. Bell introduced a mis cellaneous lecture which proved to be a spicy comment ur on the previous ad dress of the evening, j It may be prop er here to state that the Teachers' In stitute of Cor vails conferred the degree of "Dr." on this able gentleman. He is one of the few seakers that can make wit humorous, and can success fully keep his humor on a plane where pathos abounds. , MISCELLANEOUS FRIDAY MOKXINO. Every man ehuuld be a leader in his sphcrc.f Hermit, General Discussion, "Prizes in Pub lic School" was introduced by J. B. H mm OBUST 61 E ALT II Is not always enjoyea by those who seem to possess it. The taint of corrupted blood may be secretly undermining the constitution. In time, the poison will cer tainly show its effects, and with all the more virulence the longer it has been allowed to permeate the system. Each pimple, sty, boll, skin disorder and sense of unnatural lassitude, or languor, Is one of Nature's warnings of the consequences of neglect. Ayers Sarsaparilla Is the only remedy that can be relied upon, in all cases, to eradicate the taint of hered itary disease and the special corruptions of the blood. It is the only alterative that is sufficiently powerful to thoroughly cleanse the system of Scrofulous and Mercurial impurities and the pollution of Contagious Diseases. It also neu tralizes the poisons left by Diphtheria and Scarlet Fever, and enables rapid recuperation from the enfeeblement and debility caused by these diseases, j , Myriads of Cures i Achieved by AYER's Sarsaparilla, In the past forty years, are attested, and there is no blood disease, at all possible of cure, that will not yield to it. Whatever the ailments of this class, and wherever found, from the scurvy of the Arctic circle to the "veldt-sores" of South Africa, .this rem edy has afforded health to the sufferers by whom it was employed. Druggists everywhere can cite numerous cases, with in their personal knowledge, of remark able cures wrought by It, where all other treatment had been unavailing. People will do well to I Trust Nothing Else than Ater's Sarsaparilla. j Numerous tii.lo Tnl-rtiirps are offered to the public as "blood purifiers," which only allure the patient with the pretense of many cheap doses, and with which it is folly to experiment while disease is steadily be coming more deep-seated and difficult of cure. Some of these mixtures do much lasting harm. Bear in mind that the only medicine that can radically purify the vitiated blood is j Ayer's Sarsaparilla, PREPARED BY! Dr. J. C. Ayer & Co Lowell, Mass.
