A Paris dispatch savs: Ministers of the
interior, commerce and public works, on a
tour f inspection in cholera infected
cities, have returned to Paris. They state
that the adoption of stringent measures is
imperative, and that 2,000,000 francs will
be inadequate for relief measures.
Public security in the suburbs of Con
stantinople has never been in a worse con
dition. Brigands recently entered a
mosque four miles from there, and after
firing several volleys into the ceiling rifled
every person present, securing money and
valuables. Brigands also attacked and
plundered the village of Bozkhal, a few
miles outside of town.
The Porte has sent a circular note to the
powers, notifying them of its assumption
of postal service. The note says the ex
istence of foreign postoftices in Turkev is
an infringement of the sovereign rights
of the Sultan. The Porte insists upon the
prepayment of letters with Ottoman
stamps, and the powers are invited to
close their respective offices.

In est Point. Ga., Sam Gibson (col
ored) grossly assaulted his own daughter,
and was put in jail. The same nicht a
party or colored men broke into the jail
to lynch the prisoner. He resisted, cut
ting six of them severly. The lynchers
then shot him dead.
Bob Hunt and Dan Parker, both colored,
were hanged at Greenville, Miss., last
week. The former killed Burrel Best
(colored) at Refugee, on the 6th of October,
lo?c, and the latter killed Richard Barrett
(colored) on Deer Creek, May 11, 1884.
Both confessed their guilt.
Twelve cowboys, belonging to Hard-
wick's "wild" show, made a drunken raid
on South Clark street, Chicago, recently,?

They succeeded in frightening people
from the street, but were finally cantured
and locked up before doing any injury.
The ice houses of the Buckeve Brewincr
Company and J. M. Wasson, of Columbus,
O., on the river below Toledo, were burned
last week. The loss will reach 8,000. A
sand scow tied to the lock was also
burned; loss 3,000, no insurance. Law
rence Thompson, who was on the scow, is
thought to be latauy burned.
The authorities of Bandora, Blanco and
Boerna, Texas, aided by the United States
marshal, are scouring the country after a
band of road agents who recently stopped
the stage and Boernia hack, robbing the
passengers of 850 in money, geld watches,
chains and jewelry. The robbers did not
molest the united States mails.
An understanding has been reached be
tween the postoltice departments of the
United States and Canada.- American
newspaper publishers can send litho
graphs and chromos to their subscribers
in that country, subject to such regula
tions andj liabilities to customs duties as
the customs laws of the dominion may

The Washington Star savs that, the

AT DEATH'S E00R.
Rev. J. II. Richards, of South Haven,
Mich., gives us, under date of June 14th,
1882, the following account of what Com
pound Oxygen did for an old lady, seventy
years old, who, a year ago, was at death's
door:
"Compound. Oxygen ha3 done a fine
work here in the person of a lady near
seventy. She had a pulmonary attack,
coughed incessantly and became greatly
reduced in fact, was completely pros
