Another Pioneer done.
Mrs. Philip Phile" died sud
denly Thursday night as.the re
sult of a stroke of paralysis, in
tlie seventy-fourth year of her
age. The funeral services were
held Sunday afternoon from the
family residence, Rev. J. R. N.
Bell officiating, the remains be
ing buried in Crystal Lake ceme
tery. In the passing of Mrs. Phile,
the old settlers will be impressed
with the thought that time is
swiftly passing and one by one
the old pioneers are called home
to their reward. Hers has been
a life of great activity, earnestly
striving at all times to make the
home happy, and by her sunny
disposition she cast a . ray of
iiht and gladness in ,many a
weary heart to cheer them to
duty in the lonely struggles of
life.. She always .looked upon
the bright side of the picture
and the writer wiH"'al way Re
member the miny acts of 'iind
ness showni him by .(this h$ble
woman. Altbougn sne rsgone,
her influence will stilT pass on
down through the ages, adding
jewels to her crown and making
the world better by her having
lived in it.
The bereaved husband and
children have' the deep sym
pathy of all in their sorrow. :

William Grant, an aged Ore

lying at the point of death in
Roseburg, where he was taken

While living here, Mr. Grant
performed the heroic act of rush
