It has often been said that the enrollment at the public schools from year to year is a good ba rometer as to the increase in the population of the town. ; With an increase of 50 over that of last year at the opening, a total enrollment of 520 Monday and so many in the hop fields, it cerT tainly indicates a rapid growth in the town. Notwithstanding the loard has made numerous changes to provide for the increase in at tendance, every room is crowded to its full capacity, and many more children will" be added to the roll &s soon as the busy sea- j son. is over. - - Already the demand is made foran additional teacher for the high "school and from present indications more teachers will be ,necesary in, other depart ments. - The board has found it necessarv to reauestall children to remain away from the school grounds until o:40 a. m. - Superintendent Fulkerson is very much -pleased with the prosperous condition of the Cor valiis schools and the earnest efforts of the citizens to make it pleasant for everyone. Wher Clothespin Com From. : Tucked away in the northeast corner of Maine is a good sized town where the people make their living from clothespins and pail handles. Some of ob may have wondered, where all the clothespins come from which are used by the housewives throughout the coun try on wash day. This Maine town makes more clothespins- than any other place in the world, while the bulk of the wooden handles which' are strung on the wire bales by which we carry pails and other receptacles also come from Bryant Pond, the' name of the Yankee community.
