Dennis & Bryan, of Lane county, have been buying cows with calves for some company whose intention is to put them on the ranges in Eastern Oregon. The price paid did not g above $13. Harold Waggoner, of Eugene, is spending a wee with his aunt, Mrs, George Hall. Miss Sarah Evans, lormerly one of Benton county's most competent teach ers, who bas been teaching in the East for several years, is home for a time. Dr. Bennett has rented the faim which he recently bought ot Manly Bucking bam to Mr. Coon f v the next year. Josie Ben Ham, who has been for the last month at Cottage Grove with her uncle, returned lant Saturday. Mrs. E. L. Tozier, who has been suffer ing for the last two or three weeks with sprained ankle, seems to be no better. M. L. Baroett, with his family, passed through Beufouutiiu the otner day, on their way home from the Alsea country where they have been in the chittitu lurk, business. 6 C. Starr brought home two fine Jer sey co -vs which he purchased at Tangent, Linn county. Horning & Steiwer have been buying mutton sheep here. They secured a fine1 lot. v J. H. Edwards is building an addi tion to kis residence and otherwise im proving it. Mr. White, of Junction, is dging the work. The family of Mr. Casterline have been having tousititis but are now improving. Barrett Taylor, of the Joha Day high sutiool has been spending a week with his friend and former teacher, Prof. H. Mack. W. C. Belknap brought from Salem last week a fine black Percheion stallion that he will keep in the south end of the county. Oak Grove. Geo. Beam is and wife spent Sunday at Waterloo. . ( Mrs Laureuson has been on the sick list for the last few days. Hugo Kart-teus returned from Toledo where he has been doing some work on his homestead which is located near that town. Will Morris left Saturday tor Salem, where he goes to run an engine for his brother during harvest. Mips Bertha Lawer, of Jefferson, is visiting here. Wiley Holman and wife, of Albany, were viuitiiig at Wellsdale Monday. Miss Birdie Woodard returned Satur day from Jeiferson . w here she has been visiting friends. George lVice has bought 10 acres of land and as soon as l e gets his house built we may hear the chime of wedding bel's. . Dillard Price returned Wednesday from Little Elk where he went to get a hundred head of sheep for Mr. Hammer, of Albany. Mr. and Mrs. Cady returned home Wednesday from ings Valley. Will Bailey left Sunday for Eddyville where he went to peel chittim for Dick Derrick, who is running a large force of men in that part. Howard Collins started Saturday for Washington where he goes to make his home. John Benson and daughters, Esther and Anna, came up from Portland Wednesday aud on Saturday moved out to his 40-acre home to he bought of W. D. Pretty man. Miss Palmer, of Maiion Station, who has been visiting at the home of Mr. Kay returned home Saturday. A party consisting of Robert, Marion and Wesley Bailey and families will start for Tiliamook Thursday fork two-week's puting. W. W. Davis, of Alsea, filled the pul pit at North Palestine church, Sunday. Jirs. Martha Cady and two daughters, EQie and Beitha and Mrs. Maud Wil son were guests of Burke, of Oak Creek, Friday. Philomath. Roy McGee returned from Kellogg Oregon, last Sunday, after a several weeks' visit with his graudparent. Mr. Bumap and wiie spent several days at Newport, last week. Mrs. Ella Jones returned to Portland, Tuesday after several days' visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Coles. Mrs. Beunet's parents, Mr. and Mr?. Hayhnrst will join them Friday. Mre.
