The parade of the Norris & Rowe new and greater shows this season promises to be an event of more than ordinary in terest. The shows have grown so enor mously that the army of acrobats, gym nasts, clowns, tumblers, athletes, equil ibrists and riders combined with the congress of marvelously trained animals, makes almost a city in itself under the enormous new tents which houses this really wonderful organization known as the New Norris & Rowe Greater Shows. The costumes for this parade were made expressly for it and we are assured that no other attraction has ever gone to so creat an exDense in tins matter, now- o ever it is simply a matter of personal pride with Norris & Rowe to have the best and most expensive street display ever exhibited in this section. Dozens of new wagons, epic, span, new, and in all the brilliancy of red and gold paint; dozeos of rages of rare and wild beasts, elephants, tigers, lions, tapirs, educated ponies and horses in all the glory of gay trappings make a veritable feast of color for the eye and a spectacular parade which will lonsf be remembered as one of the best teatures of the modern big circus. Norris & Rowe will exhibit here Friday, May 2j, giving performances at 2 and 8 p. m. A Local Musicale. The entertainment given last Friday evening by the orchestra, consisting of Messrs. Cathey, Kennedy, Burkhart, Nichols and Miller, and Mrs. G. B. Schmidt and Miss Libbie Rice, was well received by a very good audience. The orchestra rendered 4 'Prince Pilsen," by Luders, "Evening Pearl," by Humphreys and an overture, "Guiding Star," by Kennedy. Mr. Nichols gave the audience a treat in his cornet solo, from Keifer. Mr. Kennedy rendered a violin solo accom panied by the orchestra, which ws rich in musical variation. Mr. Burkhart, of Albany, con tributed an interesting number in the "Holy City," on his trom bone. Mr. Burkhart and his trombone are good friends that seem to understand each other. Guy E. Moore and. Miss Dora Lindgren gave variety in their readings, in which each is quite at home. Genevieve Schmidt gave a graceful number in pantomime while Dora Lindgren sang, 'Abide With Me. ' ' Mamie Hall appeared in the first tableau, "Ready for the Wedding." The Church Coronation was participated in by eighteen girls, the parts consisting of short drill, tableau, vocal music and recita tion. In admiration of the submariue torpedo-boats those toys of death and scientific demons of the sea let us remember a precursor of this great age ot torpedo warfare. In 1776 David Bushnell, Yankee, tried to destroy a British ship in the New York Bay by means ot a submarine boat. He failed, but is worth remembering, all the same.
