Luckily patience is one of the regular democratic virtues. The situation in Turkey and the Balkans is growing graver everyday. Fights between the Mohammedans and native Chris tians have taken place, and the official version of the affair as telegraphed to the Ottoman am bassadors say that the Christians were the assailants. In Macedo nia the Turks have set fire to the forests where 150,000 old men women and children have taken refuge, and are killing fugitives - who attempt to escape to the plains. Between 30,000 and 50, 000 Bulgarians have been mas sacred in the neighborhood of Monastir, while as many more are slowly perishing of hunger. Life, in Southeastern Europe is certainly strenuous, if not what uiigut uc caueu exciting. Citizens ot this county who have the interests of the commu nity at heart, must not fail to be jepresented at ; the meeting to be held at Newport on the 15th of this month, where officers of the war department will meet all in- 'terefited in the further improve-: ment 01 Yaquma Bay. it is tne last chance that will be offered1, and if this fails, ijt will be maay years before' another opportunity will be given, if ever. Prof. Nelson holds that a good newspaper is a better educator than the aveiage text book. Debility, paleness, lassitude, headache and disturbance of miad. soon follow. Catarrhal" deafness is al most sure to result in a majority of cases OFFENSIVE BKEATH. In the most advanced stges the dis charges are generally of an offensive odor, causing great annoyance to ones friends and the patient himself while the sense of smell remains. Tbia annoyance from the odor beeomea almost beyond endurance, more especialy when the di eease assumes the form ef ozaena, and the delicate bones of the nose becomes diseased. DEFORMITY OF THE NOSE. Ih cases where the bones of the nose become diseased, net only is the offen siveness of th" breath greatly increased, but there is a liability to serious personal d eformities, among which are flattening of the nose. CONSUMPTION AKD DEATH. , Catarrh afflictions, unchecked by treat ment, are prone to extend by continuity of surface along tbe natural air passages to the substance of tho lung, thus caus ing consumption and death. In this con nection it should also be remembered that the air which enters the lungs of a catarrhal patient is every breath of it poisoned by the foul secretion of the dis eased surface. By such air-the blood cannot be properly purified and made tit to impart healthy vigor in its mending circuit to alt and every part ef the animal mechanism. ; One would suppose that that this consideration alone: would" be sufficient to induce 'every psrson thus afflicted to make early application for re lief,; y -::.'.v '; - - ' - TREATMENT AND CUKE. - : - - By the medicinal and electric sy t.tem of treatment, which Dr. Darrin has adopt ed and pursued for years with uniform success, a complete and permanent cure of this repulsive disorder can be effected.
