If you can arouse curiosity by an ad vertisement it is a great point gained. The fair sex don't hold all the curiosity in the world. A thing worth doing is worth doing well. A thing worth advertising is worth advertising well. A newspaper worth Advertising in once is worth making a contract with. It is a mistaken notion that a fine store in an eligible location, surrounded by attractive signs, is a superior advertise ment; for the experience of the most en -terprising merchants is that it pays bet ter to spend less in rent and more in ad vertising. Advertising is the pole that knocks the persimmons. Don't" be afraid to invest in ' printer's ink, lest your sands of life be nearly run out. Trying to do business tising is like winking through a pair of green may know what you are without adver- at a pretty prirl goggles. You doing, but no- body else does. Toe enterprising advertiser proves .that he understands how to buy, becauso in advertising lie knows how to pell. Bread is the staff of human life, and Advertising, is the stall of business A simple card may profitably stand years without change, but a sensational .advertisement should be changed as of ten as you can get the printer to do it. A neavy advertisement once is more than quadrupled in value by a small card, published for a few months after, .giving your address. You can't eat enough in a week to last you a year, and you can't advertise on that plan either.. - Now is the time to think about adver tising. and reflection should bo followed by judicious action. To make a man realize an idea as you realize it is what is' necessary to make him understand his needs. Advertise ments should aim to place a matter so clearly before the public that they see it as clearly as the advertising does. Enterprising people are beginning to learn the value of advertising the year round. The persistency of those who are not intimidated by the cry of "dull times," and who keep their names ever before the public, will surely place them on the right side in the end. Julia bas five beaux and Emily baa three, -while the old maid next door has none. How- many beaux in all, and how many would be left if they should give the old maid half the crowd? A man paysthirty cents for three pounds of evaporated apples and gets a $14 news paper puff for sending them to an orphan asylum. Does he gain or lose, and how much? A. has an overcoat for which he paid $18, and his wife trades it off for two red clay busts of Andrew Jackson, worth thiity cents each. How much money will she get from her husband to buy a fall bonnet. Detroit Free Press. Dresden's Famous Cblna The history of Uresdefl China dates back to the year 1710. Until recently the work has been'carried on in the olyl castle where the charmed secret of "how. to make it" was discovered. A number of commodious buildings are now used for the work and occupied by sevon hun dred workmen, we had almost said art ists, for they certainly deserve that name. The China is composed of feld spar and "kaolien." The process of making is very similar to that used in the making of any China. The princi pal charm is the skill and care which is used. When one sees the numberless processes of molding, trimming, baking, decorating and polishing through whieh every piece of China, and, indeed, each tiny flower passes, vre do not wonder at its great cost. This China has been imi tated very widely, but one can always toll the genuine article by the royal mark, which is two swords crossed. There are two qualities of Dresden China; the second can be distinguished 2rom the first by the addition of two little grooves, running at right angles with the swords. The difference between these classes arises simply from the fact that in baking the second class articles have not retained their perfect form. The demand for . China is greater than can be supplied, and the majority of these orders come from England and the United States. Dresden Cor. Provi dence (It. I.) btar.
