The number of buildings entirely destroyed is estimated at thirty, besides a large number damaged. The advices irom the interior say tho killed is twen ty. Dispatches from Jackson say that twelve houses were destroyed, aud one man killed aud another badly injured, and a number of others seri ously injured. Galveston, April 7 Last night at ten o'clock a man calling himself James Helm drew a knifo aud cut a boy whoso name is unknown, and in his attempt to escape he attactcd and cut three unoffending nartina wnn 1 C7 ' cd to be in his way. Officer Ferguson, wno was attempting to make an arrest, w&s the next to reeeivo the knife,aui died in five minutes. Syracuse (N. Y), March 31. The heavy rain storm of Saturday created ti great deal of damage in this section of the country. The special western bound Chicago express, which left here on Saturday evening, met with an accident when in a mile of Geneva, on the auburn branch.
