Paris, December 15. The sitting of
the Assembly was resumed at nine
o'clock last uiuht. Minister Dufaufe
addressed the House in favor of reject
ing petitions for dissolution. lie spoke
ironically of Gambetta, whose speeches,
he said were the cause of tho present
needless agitation. Speeches followed
from members of all parties. The de
bate was one of the most violent and
and exciting which has taken place
in the Assembly, and lasted until one
o,clock this morning, when the chain-
ber, by a vote of 400 to 201,rejected the
petitions and passed to the order of the
day.i! Thiers was not present during
the debate, either in the afternoon or
evening- Uefore adjonring the As
sembly adopted a resolution directing
that Dufaure,s speech be p a rded iu
all communes of France. A similar
resolution in regard to the speeches
of tbe Radical Deputies was voted
down.
Tne Monarchist journals are greatly
pleased with tho stand taken by Du
iaure. the Radical press maintain a
tone of indifference and declare they
will continue the agitation for dissolu
tion.

very sangunine that he will be able to
briug the Tribune up to its old standing.
He thiuks he can sttcr clear of the mael-
storm of New York politics, into which
(jreeley was always being drawn.
