FORM. . We recognize the equality of all
tneo. before the law, and hold that it is
tfie duty of the governiuent in its
(lealinga with the people to racte out
equal, and exact justice to all,of whatever

, 2i We pledge ourselves to maintain
the union of the States, emancipation
and enfranchisement and to oppose any
reopening of the questions settled by
the 13 th, 14th and 15th amendments.
3. We demand the immediate and
absolute removal of all disabilities im
posed on account "of the rebellion
wihich was fully subdued seven years
ago,. believing that universal amnesty
will result in a oomplete pacification of
all sections of the country.
f 4 Local selfgovernmcnt with im
partial suffrage will guard the rigljt'a
of all citizens more securely than any
pentralized power. The public welfare

to .the methods of peace and the con
stitutional limitation of power.
5 The civil service of the Govorn
ment, has become a mere instrument of
partisan" tyranny, and personal ambi
tion, n4 aa objeot of selfishness. It
is a 8 caudal and a reproach upon free
institutions, and breathes a demoraliza
tion dangerous to tho perpetuity of a
.Republican Government. We there
fore regard a thorough reform of the
civil service as one of the most pressing
DeoesUies of the hour ; that honesty
capacity and fidelity constitute the on
ly valid claim to" public- employment ;
tfyat the offices, of the government cease
to be a matter of arbitrary favoritism
find patronage and that a public station
may again become a po3t ot honor,
and it is imperatively required that no
president shall be a candidate for re
election, . 6. We demand a system of federal
Jaxation which shall not unnecessarily
interfere with the industries of the
people, and which shall provide the
means necessary to pay th,e expense's of
he government economically adminis
tered, pensions, the interest on the
imblic debt and a moderate reduction
innually of the principle thereof. And
recognizing that there are in our midst
flooest but irreconcilable difference of
opinion with regard to the respective
sterns of protection and free trade,
we remit the discussion of tho subject
to the people in their Congressional
pistriets and to the decision of Con
gress thereon, wholly free from Execu
te control o? dictation.
7. The public credi must be sacredly
maintained, and we denounce repudia

8.. A speedy rctarn to specie pay

consideration of commercial morality
and honest government.
' 9. We remember with gratitude the
heroism and sacrifices of the soldiers
and Bailors of the Republic, and no act
of ours shall ever detract from their
justly-earned fame, or the full records
6x their patriotism.
0. We are opposed to further grants

public domain shall be held sacred to
actual settlers.

12. For the promotion and success
of these vital principles and the sun

welcome the co-operation of all patriotic
citizen, without regard to previous po-
nicai amnations.

The opringtieiu liepubiican says :
It is possible, as some of our friends
insi, stt that Mr. Greeley will make a
Dur President, liut it is unwUe in
them toiosi&t that he was a failure as a
ConirreSBman. On the question of
Opinion they may be right; on the
question of 'act we know them to be
wronp. Mr. Greeley's whole term of
service in the House barely covered a
period of three months. Yet in the
quarter, of a year he set on
ioot three great reforms of which

benefit. It was Congressman Greeley
who brought in the first homestead
bill, who struck the first blow at the
mileage abuse, and who first assailed
the English doctrine, 'Once a subject,
always a subject by laying doirn in a
rusolution the doctrine that every man
has a right to migrate from his native
land to another, and, in becoming a

Old Things Have Passed Away.
This is )t.t least true of the old method of
treating the long abutiod and much abused
human body. It is no longer considered wise
to put a patient to tho torture in order to cure
him of a disease in which pain is already un
dermlning the energies of his system, Trua
science ranges itself on tho side of naturo, and
endeavors to assi ether in her fighi against
disease. This is tho providence of Ilostetter's
Stomach Bitters, the most approved tonic ever
advertised in this country, J-t may be recom
mended as a fall medicine, par excellence ; tor
it is in the fall that biliousness, dygpeppia and
malarious fevers aro especially prevalent
The frame, exhausted by the heats o.4 summer,
is relaxed and feeble at its close, and requires
we may say demands, artificial assistance.
Afford it that assistance in occasional doses
of Ilostetter's Stomach Bitters, and the evils
referred to may bo escaped, Throughout tho
far West, and on the steaming alluvial of the
Southern rivers, all the varieties of periodical
fever aro probably rife to-day, Had a course
of Ilostetter's Bitters been commenced by the
sufferers a month
t before the un
healthy season set in, seven-eights of them
would In all probability be in their usual
health at the present time. So f much lor
want of forecaste. So ranch for not keeping
in 'the houje, and using daily, tho bestj safe
guard against epidemic fevers.
As flocks of importers and imitators aro
trying to follow in the wake of tho great Amer
ican remedy.gtherefore be sure that the article
you buy i genuine and verified by the proper
trade-mark. The truo article can only ba ob
tained in Bottlea. Beware of tho spurious
bitters sold by the gallon or in keg.
