Thero is often in the heart an innate imago of the beings wo arc to love that lends to our first sight of them an air of recognition. -Corinne. Strangers ? Ah, no ! I sure have seen thy face And felt the soft, warm clasping of thy hand ; And met those eyes in some moro genial place. Where change blights not the land. Each word, each motion so familiar seem. That I could call thee friend aye doarost friend Oh, was it but a message in a dream Thy soul to mine didst send ? Or, have I known thee in some brighter sphere, Uncumbered with this heavy weight ot clay ? Is it the soul-light shining strong and clear, I recognize to-day? ITave not our spirits wandered, side by side, "Where fadeless flowers bloom by immortal stream.-', And as wo watched the onward flowing tide, Mingled our hopes and dreams ? Have we not lifted our weeping eyes, Above the little tide of human cares. And mingled with our thoughts of Paradise, Our wishes and our prayers ? Ilave wo not talked together of the hopes Our Ood has lighted up in human suula, Aud of an Eden on the fadeless slopes, Where life's fair river roils ? Oh, can yon tell if we have met, and where ? And what relationship we once have homo? ' And if for punishment or sins dono there, We from our homes were torn ? For thou a stranger surely cannot bo, Full well I know that I have seen thy face. And every word and motion seems to mo gome old-time joy to trace. And SO I thjuk somo dear one I have l vt, And Bought and longed for in my lonely way, Like a rich sunbeam, my dark path has crossed, And change ! my night to-day. And that no matter how the world grow? dark. How clouds and stornu upon our path miy beat, This spirit light, this pure and HeavouUt rpark, Will light my weary foot. For Ifcelievo the Angels let U3 know Our soul friends on earth ; else why tho light Which Cashes up from heart below. When first wo meet their sight? Thero is a kinship of the human soul. There is a kinship of the immortal mind. Which, like tho Waters on the earth that roll, Their level waves van.it find. And happy they who meet and glide alon Through fragrant meadows in their vici lin V - , . youth, And happy they who, grown more rich ;ud ' strong. May reach their fount of truth. And happier still if, after years of toil, OfloDely tears and longings undefined, This bright light pours for ono brief year its oil Of gladness on the mind. For tiine is time, and love is lovo ; no scnlo Can weigh, no lino can measure human b!"w. ; And love can blot out years of sorrow's trail With but a single kis3 ! For Qod around the lovinj poul of mnn Has thrown this richest of all hum in ! -r( Which Reaches him thej Ltrt'a puio tin. to scan, And know tho gcldca ore. And In eternity this littlo breath Of time will seem to us a distant brojr Which came to waft us o'tr thj g.-iU-s of Home to our native .e:u. Where none are ever seen behind a vvil Where soul are known the inuumit they are met Where nine friendship loivcs n serpent tiui!, And love can ne'er furirct. TAKE IT OUT IN Tit A I) E.
