The matter of legislative action in favor of the laborers of the land ia attratcting attention, and action The Boston Journal mentions that "a glance at state legislation for the present year shows the tend ency of the times to throw ample protection about labor in all vuied interests. California has estal lislied a board of arbitiation to aeUle labor difficulties. Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Wy oming and New Mexico have en acted laws prohibiting non-residents from serving ax peace officers during labor difficulties. An anti boycott law, making threats and violence pc nal offense?, has been placed on the statute book of Ore gon. In Michigan no licenses can le issued to would-be newsloye and bootblacks who cannot show that in the preceding twtlve months they attended school.
