BETCKNED FROM THE iST. a IsUttUw With Htn, J. V. Codck- The Political Hor'xoa. Hon. J. W. Cusick. accompanied by Mrs. Cusick and their little son Harry, returned yesterday lirjrn ing from a two monthB v'sit in the East. They left on August 10, and went over the Northern Pacific to St. Paul, thence tot'hicago, where they saw the World's Fair site and preparations for the big ex-M.-iiion. They spent several weeks in Illinois, and Iowa, where Mrs. Cus.ck's relatives reside, and also visited friends in Kansas. The farmers Alliance in Kansas, Mr. Cusick eays, is "busted." Hood crops ami prosperous times has caused Urmcra to let tne al liance run i:self, while they looked after crops and business interes's, and this once llourshing orgauiza t'n his about died of neglect. "What is the political sentiment as to presiden'ial candidates," was a iked. "There is astronsr feeling for Mr. Blaine throughout the East," he answer d. "fading republicans with whom 1 talked as a rule favored the nomination of the Iran Loin Maine, and it certainly looks now a-t if he would b3 the nominee. Iheieisa friendly enough feeing for president Harrison, but tne warm-hearted enthusiasm and dep sentiment that Mr. Blaine's name causes, and which shows the trendof publie opinion to be for his nominal ion is lacking in Harrison's case. Thev LMine back via Salt Lake Citv. the home of the Mormons, and attended their services at the tabernacle. About four thousand Mormons were present to hear the first sermon of Joseph Smith since his return from abroad. He de nounced polvgamy and adultery, Mr. Cusick stated, and prtstched a discourse vcrv Eimiliar to a modern I ..rtl. .,.!.. HiTinnn. There is Still a bitter feeling between the Mormons and Gentiles in Salt Lake, and probably will be until polygamy is entirely obliterated. ir. Cusick. ana lamuy reiurneu via San Francisco. They had ex cellent health and enjoed the trip immensely, although they were triad to net back to Oregon, which Mr. Cusick savs is the best state of them all. Irabytry Meeting. Acheson, of Oakville, conducted the services. Little Lord fauntleroy. Read what the San Jose Mercury says: "The phenomenal success of this play was not lessened one whit on its tirst production it tan Jose yesterday, and notwithstand in the opposition ot fair week "standing room only" greeted the little lord at both the matinee and the evening performance. The audiences were refined and appre ciative ones, and the recep tion accorded the play and players showed that the excellent reptita tion of both had not been mis represented. The child actress, Georgie Cooper, is acknowledged to be one of the best Cedrics on the stage, and as at every place where she has appeared, immediately won her wav into the hearts of her audience. She is supported by the original company, with one or two exceptions, which appeared with her at the Xew California in San Francisco, and it is needless to say that all of the characters are inimitable in their conception." This com pan v will positively ap pear for the first and last time at Albany on V. ednesday evening next, Oct. SMst. Hasten and secure your reserved seats at Wid & Link's music etore. Heuiatlonal Will Cm. Papers have leen filed in the Lane county probate court institu ting a will case that will probably prove of a lugiily sensational character. The petition filed sets forth that Sarah Maxwell died in La'.e county, Oregon, May 1, 187!, at tue age ot t. vears, ana was a resident of said county, that at the time of her death she was the owner of property of the value of 20.01 K); that prior to her death she legally leueathed all of said property to herfoiirgrandchildren, Win. and Edward Maxwell, the petitioners, and Susie and Matilda Maxwell, share and share alike to each of them : that the will was never revoked or annulled and was made at the request and dicta tion of defendent by Joel Ware, and Fannie I'.ranstetter and Helen Eaton were the attesting witnesses nil now living; that when the w:Il was made it was leit wita John Maxwell, eon of the decedent and father of Susie and Matilda Max well, and uncle of petitioners, for safe keeping at the requestof dece dent; that John Maxwill has se creted the will and kept the con tents thereof ami its effects from the petitioners and legatees, w ho were at the time of the excution tlureof very young, and now neg lects and refuses to produce the will, and falsely and fraudulently alleges it to be lost. Able legal talent has been engaged on both sides, and the case will le hotly contested. Helicon Meeting.
