Eugene Register: All soldiers,
sailors and marines of the late war,
in Lane county, Oregon, will hold
a reunion or picnic the first Wed

Wheat Shipment,.
The wheat is being moved out
of Eas'ern Oregon and Washing
ton without any trouble this year,
as none of it is being shipped east,

Pacific has between 11KHI and U'tHI
box cars employed in this work,
and they are loaded and unloaded
promptly and move with celerity,
there being plenty ot motive pow
er. From 1J0 to 150 cars of
w heat are living unloaded at Al
bina everv dav. The trouble
a I tout cars last season was caused
principally by shipments east, it
taking live times as much equip,
inent to handle eas'ern shipments
as to haul the grain here.

An amusing feature of the ex
position last night was the search

north gallery of the machineiy

in the gallery of the music hall,
much to the delight of all who
were in the building. This enor
mous light, which w:ll he uted on
the new tteamor I-Iyer, is the
largest one ever tuanuf icturcd in
the country. The machine was
turned upon the audience with all
colors of light, and the effect was
as beautiful as it was brilliant.
One of the most unique exhibits
in the large mineral department
is the miniature model of a Baker
county mining camp that is operat
ed by "electricity. It is a perfect
representation of a mining camp,
with the exception that every
thing pertaining to an ideal min
ing camp is there, while in
ordinary mining camps everything
is not there. The camp looks as
natural as life, and old gold hunt
ers stop to gaze upon the miniature
field of fortune, while memories ot
the past come up thick ami ta.-t

covering their rugged slopes,
crystal streams running down
canvons and crevices, the water-

Aregiment of turkey buzzards,
numbering hundreds, was seen
Monday morning, between Pendle
ton and the Atieney. These ill
favored birds were never seen be
iore in that locality, and their
presence in such large numbers
is puzzling those who witnessed
the spectacle.
R. II. Scott, of Scott's Mills: has
already ordered an engine, and
will at once build an experimental
line of wooden railroad. His ob
ject is to build a line from Scott's
Mill's to Mt. Angel, and the five
miles of roadbed now building is
on the same line. This road is
built very cheaply and is said to
be just the tiling for ttnhjr
countries.
