The world of humanity have al

woman has constantly asserted
her equality if not the superiority
in a quiet but insistent way.
Now it appears that she is gadu
ally outnumbering man in the
census returns, and the Omaha
Lee fearfully says:

population of the civilized world

hind the female. According to
the last British census the excess
of women and irirls over men and
lioys in Oreat Britain is about

Mr. Alfred Keeble, of California,
introduced the lady bug into that
state from Australia with such
good results iu the destruction of
fruit insects. He is about to make
a second trip to that far off conti
nent in search of a destroyer of
the grasshopper, said t exist
there, and it is hopeful he may
find it. Teople in the eastern
states years ago who were lighting
the bo- called Colorado potato bug
made very little progress against
it until an insect that destroyed
the eggs of the potato bug came to
their relief.
