that the Ninth National Bank is in
trouble. Investigation showed
Bank Examiner Hepburn and the
clearing house committee making
an investigation. To-mVht Iforv-
burn made the statement to the
press.to the eti'eet that the investi
gation reveals a shortage of four
hundred thousand dollars, charge
able to the foruier president of the
bank. While the loss is serious it
does not impair the bank's solv
ency nor its ability to take care of
its customers. The assets besides
the loss mentioned are of gocd
character and discounts of except
ionally good character. The late
president referred to was John I.
Hill, who died in March.
