They were killed by a snow slide. weaver was loumt auve oune. under the broken ttmliers and debris of the cabin in which thev iveil, both legs and one arm en crushed by timbers and were frozen. He was sensible whet found and said he thought he hpd lieen so confined five days since Ihe slide occurred. The rescue party started wiin mm u town, but he died before they reached the tixt of the mountain. A FATAL TKAIN WRECK. t A ruKM-uger. Train Plunge Down an Enibankaaent In Canada. Quebec, Iec. 18. An express train from Halifax on the Intei Colonial road, due at Louis at 10:40 to-day met with a frightful accident about three miles from its destination. The scene of the wreck was an embankment at St. Josephs. The train waa running at a high rate of speed, and altei passing St. Joseph's station the second -class ctr appeared to have jumped the track on a curre and trugged the first-class car and sleeper with it, and also derailed the mail car and baggage cat ahead of it. Three passenger care ran diagonally along the embank ment for 200 yards, the second lass car sinking the western ahuttment of the bridge. It was in this car that the sacrific of life occurred. The front of the car was smashed f atoms against the solid stone ahuttment. As soon as the news of the dis aster reached the city, a numbet of medical men crossed the rivet and vent down on a special train to the scene of disaster and rendered efficient aid to the wounded passengers. Smith waa the con victed murderer of Stephen Phid niore and had been given four re- pites, pending the investigation of his guilt. Notwithstanding the leeiMon of last night.
