Every one admits that labor does
nut get its full share of ita product,
but it gets a larger share to-day

moral practices, ' from faith- in
forte and skepticism as t the
value of freedom : from the false

from sentimentalism that sees the
world through a glaso darkly and
refuses to stand face to face with

dreadful, but it can only be abol
ished "by multiplying the produc
tive capacity of man and of
machines. Every step in this
direction, every multiplication of
the good things of life, has miti
gated the hard conditions of the
laboring classes, and it lias done
this in the fare of tiie prophecies
to the contrary coming from men
w ho were the predecessors of the
prevailing school of sentimental

report. Tbey rind that the rail
road's theory of a rail having been
removed ia not supported by the
testimony," and the further find
that the bridge was fautly in many
particulars and not sufficiently
strong to sustain the weight of ,
moving trains under such condi
tions as are likely to present them
selves on any railroad at any time.
Thi decision, affirming in effect
the verdict of the coroner's jury
in the caae, should le of great
benefit lo the traveling public,

Southern Pacific Company the fact

better judgment to spend money
in construction than in paying

bridge was not in proper condition,
