Southern Oregon. The stage was held up by ft brace of highwaymen, who ordered the mail pouch thrown out at the muz zle of a Winchester. The driver obeyed with alacrity and the pouch was cut open and rifled of all the registered letters and packages. All the remaining mail was then destroyed by the robbers who finally ordered the driver to pass on. lie did so without any hesi tation whatever. Officers will be sent to trace the robbers, of whom no clue has vet been obtained. It is rot known by the author ities" how much money was ob tained, but it is believed to be a small amount. This is the first stage robbery that occurred for some time. Katel Saloon Quarrel. Salt Lake, Sept. 12. At Park City. Utah, to-day, John Moffshot and -fatally wounded Alexander 1 jingdou, a miner. Moff is an en gineer at the Ontario mine. He was in a saloon, drinking with Thomas Currans when Langdon came in. Currans and Langdon Uad quarreled earlier in the day, and the quarrel was renewed. Moff.became involved in it and whipping out a revolver, fired, in flicting a horrible and gaping wound in Langdon 'a bowels from which his. death is momentarily expected, as the wound is neces sarily fatal. ' Mori is in jail. He claims in justification that Lang don slapped him, hut this Langdon denies. Shot Hint Dead. Mii.kokd, Conn., Sept. 12. John J. Waters, aged 45, w as .shot dead by George Knowles, aged 21, last night at Lanesville, three miles south of here. Jay Knowles and .Dr. David Knowles each claim the ownership of a house left by their father. David locked up the prem ises and placed his wife and son George on guard therein. Later Knowles called with a party of neighbors and started to break in tiie door. George fired, kiliing Waters, who was in the party. Dr. David Knowles and his wife, and George Knowles have been arretted. Waters leaves a widow and six children. Among ttva Strike. Sydney, Sept. 12.
