A strange and somewhat unac
counted for accident occurred in
the machine of George Smitt. while
threshing on the (arm of Mrs.
Allen near Eola a few days since.
While the machine was running
at her usual seed an explosion
took place in the cylinder and a

the machine and set fire to the lee
aide of the thresher, and it w as
only by hard work that the thresh
er and and threshed grain were
saved. The cause of the explosion
iit unknown. The straw had con
siderable fern in it and some think
it was the dust from the fera which
they say is combustible under fa
