says : "The 'hehalis Nugget casts
a tlirtv sling at the Willamette

crop through Western Oregon is
almost an entire failure, through
the ravages of the hop lice, which
seems to get into the entire Wil

strain and says the wheat crop is a
f iilure aud that tons ol half grown
apples are rotting on the ground.
Never was a more flagrant untruth
uttered, as the residents of Oregon
well know. The wheat crop of
Oregon, while the yield is hardly
as huge as usual, is well filled and
of extraordinary quality. The
fruit prospects of the Willamette
valley weie never better, ai d the
fruit is sound snd healthy, while
no one in this country has ever
heard of hop lice in this vicinity.
