. Through the columns oi your
taluable paper I would line to ask
your agricultural readers if any of
them have used bone dust for fer
tilizing? If so, for what kind oi
crops? and how applied? and in
what quantity for a giving sur
face. Also, what experience any of
them have had with the green fly
on apple trees? what harm do they
do? and what connection have the
small black ants with the fly and
what is their remedy.
The foregoing questions ar- a
few out of many which I have to
ask of your readers, but these may
suffice for the present.
I would suggest that all questions
be numbered and the answers
could be given by numbers to cor
respond in place of names.

A gentleman living in Albany
has received a letter from a friend
in California inquiring about the
land of the Willamette V.illev, as
to whether or not it is suited for
the raising of sngar beet, etc. The
writer also stated that a repre
sentative of the great sugar king,
Claus Spreckles, would visit Ore
gon during the summer for the
purpose of ascertaining its adapta
bility to the sugar !eet with a view
of erecting a beet sugar factor.
His attention has been called to
Albany on account of its splended
hipping facilities. It might lw
mentioned in this connection that
Mr. Ashby Pearce and others of
this city have made a test of grow
ing sngar beets, and have found
that they grow luxurently and
mature well in this portion of Ore

Following is what the Spokane
Chronicle has to say of the McKan
lass minstrels who will give a
performance in this city this
evening: The McKanlass oper
atic minstrels opened last night to
a good house. We must acknowl
edge that the show is first class in
every respect, and the jokes and
songs are all new- and fresh.
McKanlass is a great cominedian,
a good singer and a graceful dan
cer, and his violin and banjo play
ing is phenomenal. Master Wilfie
is a little wonder, and with his
little sister they make the greatest
little team that ever appeared in
pokane. They are the most fin
ished children performers we have
ever seen; and Miss Grillin. the
vocalist, sang some very difficult
and pleasing songs, receiving sev
eral verv heart v encores. Mr.
Sales is very funny indeed, keeping
the house in a roar from the time
of his entrance until his exit. Tbe
company all througli is go id, the
best of color that ever visited our j
city. The choruses, orchestras.
anu nana are away up.
