ing a normal school at Cheney.
Spokane county, and a medical bill
in lieu of that vetoed by Governor
Ferry.
The house devoted almor.t its en

the school bill and reached no
conclusion.
Gov. Ferry, Auditor Read and
Treasurer Lindsley opened the bid.-,
referring to the purchase of the
$300,000 bond.-? of the mate as pro
vided in the Fairweather funding
bill. Twelve proposition. were

offer to purchase the bonds to bear

ed Afghan," nor any Arab, Egypt
ian or other Oriental in the French
capital could read. They all said

Afghanistan are not pold to the
public as in Europe. It is the in

take their letters to the office and

the stamp seller takes both letter
and liionev, and having first torn
oil' a piece of the stamp, sticks
it on the envelope and the opera
tion is ended. This method,
known to the Paris collectors, was
overlooked bv Hafez Hanied and
his lU'i-oinplicOn : hence the forge rv
was soon discovered and Hafez
had to seek refuge in flight.

night Mrs. Jennie I'iiighaiu was
found lying in the street with a
gash in the back of her head. She
was taken to the hospital, where
she died last night. She had been
separated from her husband,
Major P.ingham of Milwaukee and
had been living with Zach Taylor,
an engineer.
Taylor was locked up, though
there was no evideuee that he
committed the crime. Thevictini,
it is said, feaced that Pingham
would kill her. The police are
working the case.

On first-class wool tho duty will
bo 11 cents per pound for nn
washed, 22 cents for washed and
cents on scoured wool.
This shows a trilling increase of
about a cent a pound on unwashed
and a proportionate increase on the
other grades. The second class is
extended so as to include camel's
hair, now tin the free list. On this
